Tips on Cleaning your Home

It can be tough to maintain your home, especially if you have a full time job, but if you keep cleaning bits of it every day, you will have less cleaning to do on the weekends. If you look at it like a boring and tedious task, it will become that, but if you make it a fun task that you can get the kids involved with, it can be fun for everyone involved. Here are some tips on how to clean your home:
Cleaning your living room
For most families, the most commonly used room of the house is the living room. Whether your kids are jumping on the couches or your pets are shedding hair all over the floor, it can be tough to clean up. After all the hard work of cleaning it, it seems that it gets messy all over again, in a matter of minutes. The best way to prevent this from happening is to get your kids to help out. Each toy they bring to the living room, must be returned to its original spot and your children need to know that. You can make a game of it by saying whoever gets the most toys back in the toy box, can have a treat. Whether you have carpets or not, it is important to clean the living room floor every day. You and your partner can take turns vacuumingit or sweeping it, that way it will not seem like too much work for either of you.
Cleaning your washroom
The washroom can be the part of the house that nobody wants to clean, for obvious reasons. However, it is the most important place to clean in your house, as most of the germs and bacteria in your home stem from the washroom. Start by putting bleach in the toilet and letting it sit for a while before cleaning it with a toilet brush. Scrub the tiles in the shower area with a sponge and some detergent and then just mop up the floors to give it a clean look. You can even put in an air freshener in there that goes off every thirty minutes, to have it smelling fresh all the time.
Cleaning the outside of your home
A lot of people do not consider cleaning the outside of their home. It is good to make sure that there are not any leaves on your porch that may fly into your home and that the drains are all clean and clear from mud and leaves. If you find that your drain does in fact need cleaning, you can just look up drain cleaning West Chester pa, and get professionals to come out and clean it for you.

Minimalist Apartment With Pops Of Colors

Minimalist spaces are thought to be black and white, simple and with strict lines but this apartment in Taipei, Taiwan, is not like that. Designers from Ganna Design decided to make the apartment colorful and full of joy. The partitions were reduced and replaced with flexible boards to be used as doors. Overall, the apartment became light and open with layers of neutral furnishings punctuated with pops of color. Overall, the color used was a neutral gray, which sets the tone of the space. The gray pairs well with the neon green door and fluorescent orange mirror in the guest bathroom. In the master bedroom, a custom cabinet painted in aquamarine provides plenty of storage space and becomes a focal point in the room.

What to Do with Large Spaces

It is usually small spaces that are considered problematic because you need to create the feeling of a larger space. But sometimes larger rooms can be equally tricky! It might not be easy to fill them up or know how to deal with high ceilings or extra areas. Here are some tips.

Daybeds can come in handy because they can be sophisticated enough not to have to be relegated to the bedroom. They have become as trendy as ottomans and deserve a spot in the living room or lounge. The sneaky bonus is that they can replace small sofas or even become a great rest area in the study, thus fitting into the large space stylishly.

High windows help to bring the view outside into the home. This can be beneficial to large spaces and high ceilings because it creates a sense of harmony between the outdoors and your house. Windows break the expanse of wall and bring in light.

L-shaped furniture is great use of a large room because it fits in and can help to create more seating areas (in the case of an L-shaped sofa). Think about using the L-shape in various large rooms, such as the study or kitchen. The bonus of L-shaped furniture is that it can be placed in the middle of a room so as to divide areas in an open plan home.

A room divider can come in handy when you feel that a room is too large. However, choose one that you can see through, such as a glass or bookshelf design. This helps to separate the room without making it feel disconnected.

If you feel that a small coffee table only helps to enhance the largeness of your living room, think about increasing its size so that the room is more in proportion. A good tip it to choose a coffee table that mimics its surroundings by being of a similar color – for instance, a neutral color if the rest of the room is designed with the same palette – so that it blends in but fills the space.

Have fun with the large space instead of feeling overwhelmed by it. Place a tall plant in the middle of the room or next to a staircase to create dimension and fill the space nicely.-Via

White is the New Color: Living Room Walls

White is an often-overlooked color for walls. Maybe it’s because many of us, having grown up with white walls in our childhood homes, see white walls as a poor excuse for absence of color options. But I’m here to show you that, no matter what your décor style, painting your walls white just might be the best, chicest option for you.

White walls in the living room certainly doesn’t mean keeping things devoid of color and personality. Quite the opposite, in fact! By choosing, then sticking to, a striking color palette, white walls provide an excellent backdrop to showcase and highlight your style.

This Swedish apartment pulls out all the stops on charm, with chunky wood wall beams and modern floor lamp and everything in between. Simplicity and good taste are exuded in clean lines and accessory self-restraint.

On the formal side of home style, with its moldings, moldings, and more moldings, this traditional space appears fresh and warm with its pinkish-white walls. Although the architectural details are definitely noticeable, they don’t overwhelm the space in more attention-grabbing colors.

When bold patterns and colors don’t have large-scale colors to compete with (as is often the case with a living room’s color-painted walls), they shine that much bolder and brighter. Which is the whole point of having a statement piece or two, isn’t it?

This natural-lit family-friendly living room embraces the clarity of muted tones and straight and parallel lines. White walls complement the airiness of the glass-windowed walls and refuse to compete with the minimalist vibe here.-Via

Square Coffee Table In The Living Room

Goodbye 2013, Hello 2014!!! Ah, the coffee table. The finishing piece of a living room. It’s like the shoe of an outfit – a proportionately small piece that makes all the difference in the overall result. It’s common to see a variety of coffee tables in living rooms – size, color, material, style, and shape. Rounded coffee tables have the advantage of minimizing potentially hazardous corners; plus, they never look askew. Rectangular coffee tables mimic the shape of most sofas, so they automatically make sense. But what about a square coffee table? Is there a place in design for them? Indeed there is.

Bold and bright living spaces often make for easy coffee table choices – whatever is the most visually unobtrusive is the best. Which makes this square Lucite number the clear winner in this nautically styled space. Plus, it kind of mimics the reflective transparency of sunlight on the water, which is a thematic bonus here.

It is said that the square is the most basic of shapes. Whether or not this is true, it certainly provides a subtly stabilizing force in this delightfully, stylishly busy living room. From cowhide rugs to angled lamps, from an imperfect starburst mirror to a vivid ikat chair, there is a lot going on. Which is why a simple black table in the classic black-and-white color palette of the space works so well.

This large coffee table, in a light grey with clean, minimal lines, actually leaves a pretty small visual footprint, despite its size. The table’s large size makes it useful for people at all seats in the room, and the four neat stacks of objects on the square table are balanced and organized.

Speaking of ruggedness, how about the squarishness of this large, low, contemporary coffee table amid a delicious industrial space of crumbly exposed brick and concrete? Perfection.

Casual and homey, this two-tiered wood and iron coffee table is a perfect addition to this country sitting area. Its simple, sleek form is an excellent balance for the warm honey tones of the wood and casual book stacks, not to mention the comfortable looking wicker seat nearby.

A low-slung square coffee table gives off a nice loungey feel in this eclectic living room. Especially because it contrasts so perfectly with the small tulip side table. The shape is an appropriate choice, given the other impactful squares in the space (namely, the feature art and large mirror).

Four smaller squares can easily become one larger square coffee table, as is the case in this open contemporary living room. This arrangement is highly versatile for entertaining, either with large or small parties.

I can’t help but fall in love with a huge, worn leather ottoman-turned-coffee table like this one. In a rather delicately hued space, the square piece is standout. It provides a decided sense of history and familiarity and ruggedness.

A square two-toned rustic wood coffee table like this one is unique and perfectly at home here among the leather and hides. An eye-catching planked wood top in a contrasting shade of greeny-blue mimics the steel wall coverings and makes this a conversation piece in an already interesting space.-Via
